PHILADELPHIA – Repent America (RA) is urgently calling Christians not to exercise their "right to remain silent" as the federal "hate crimes" bill proposal, H.R. 1592, heads for a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday, May 3, 2007.

"H.R. 1592 is an unnecessary, unconstitutional, and un-American bill, which, with the aid of homosexual-friendly prosecutors, will be used to criminalize Christians for their thoughts, beliefs, and speech," stated Repent America director Michael Marcavage. "The silence of the American church, together with the unrelenting rage of the ungodly, will soon result in the widespread incarceration of true believers," said Marcavage.

In October of 2004, eleven Christians with RA were arrested while ministering and preaching the Word of God and the Gospel message on the public streets and sidewalks of Philadelphia during a taxpayer-funded celebration of homosexuality. After spending 21 hours in jail, the District Attorney’s office charged the eleven under Pennsylvania’s hate crimes law, along with a host of other felony and misdemeanor charges. These charges were later dismissed, but if convicted, the Christians would have faced up to 47 years in prison and $90,000 in fines each.

Washington, DC – The so-called "media reform" movement, which wants to check and dilute the power of conservative media, especially talk radio, includes members of communist groups openly dedicated to America's destruction, Accuracy in Media's Cliff Kincaid discloses in a new column. Kincaid identifies them as members of the Communist Party USA, which was funded by the old Soviet Union, as well as the Revolutionary Communist Party, a group that follows the teachings of history's greatest mass murderer, Mao Tse-tung.

It’s always hard to pinpoint when a historic shift takes place. It is rarely as easy as Martin Luther’s posting of his 95 thesis that launched the Reformation and loosed the grip of the Catholic Church on the governance of Europe or when Henry VIII pushed Rome out of England to create the Anglican Church.

When, however, did the tiny Muslim community in America, estimated to be between two and three million—by contrast there are some six million Jews in America—begin to assert its takeover? I am going to mark it from October 19, 2006 when the Star-Ledger, New Jersey’s largest circulation daily, ran an article, “She’s got it covered: Designer seeks to dress the style-conscious Muslim woman” in its feature news section.

“Many Muslim women wear hijab as an expression of the Islamic tradition of modesty,” noted the article about a 27-year old American Muslim fashion designer. Born to a Jewish mother and a Catholic father, she had converted to Islam as a student at New York University after she married her husband, a Muslim.

When the media begin to find ways to offer up a positive image of Islam, you know they have probably decided that the game is over and we in the West have lost. The American media is expert at showing the white flag of surrender. They have been trumpeting the end of the world for decades now.

Wrong about the Soviet Union right up to the day it imploded. Wrong about the predictions that the Earth could not sustain six billion people. Wrong about the availability of mineral and energy resources. Wrong about global warming. Wrong about cutting taxes. Wrong about the current excellent state of the U.S. economy.

And now the surrender-addicts are ready, like our European cousins, to concede that Western civilization should just roll over and give up in the face of the worldwide Islamic jihad.

Europeans stopped attending Europe’s churches and stopped having enough babies to replace themselves in favor of creating totally unsustainable welfare states. Instead, they imported millions Muslims to do the work they became too old or too lazy to do themselves.

The United States, too, has created a cradle-to-grave socialist system that is going broke at an alarming rate even while the economy is thriving. The Bush administration is conspiring with Canada and Mexico to erase our national borders in order to create a North American Union that will throw our national sovereignty down the rat-hole of a vast bureaucracy that will not have to be responsive to those awful American voters.

Liberal educators accord to John Stuart Mill's essay "On Liberty" the status of holy scripture. Mill's particular version of liberty, essentially that of the ACLU, is a prescription for anarchy degenerating into tyranny.
 
American academic liberals (not to be confused with the original version of liberalism represented by Adam Smith's "Wealth of Nations" and by our own Constitution) have long employed Mill's essay to inculcate in callow students the idea that actions to subvert society's traditions are both heroic and socially progressive.
 
Mill notes that English liberty originally meant limitation of the sovereign's arbitrary powers, the ethos undergirding our own War of Independence.
 
But, says Mill, that principle having been long since established, the modern (1859 in his case) definition of liberty must be expanded. "It is now perceived that such phrases as 'self-government,' and 'the power of the people over themselves,' do not express the true state of the case. The 'people' who exercise power are not always the same people with those over whom it is exercised….. there needs protection also against the tyranny of prevailing opinion and feeling; against the tendency of society to impose, by other means than civil penalties, its own ideas and practices as rules of conduct on those who dissent from them."
 
Mill's ringing summation is, "The sole object of this essay is to assert one very simple principle…… that the sole end for which mankind are warranted, individually or collectively, in interfering with the liberty of action of any of their number, is self-protection." 
 
Libertarians will find nothing to disagree with in that statement. But, as James Madison noted in Federalist No. 51, experience has taught mankind the need for auxiliary precautions.

Exposing the Truth

I received an email in response to Part I of Fashionable Burkas? telling me that I would do better if I loved the terrorists:

“Your jab at Muslim terrorist women for saying:

American soldiers ("filth of the earth"), the Jews ("crush them!" & "make their wives widows and children orphans")

 I feel these angry words are similar to how you feel about terrorists. I would respect you if you checked your anger with humility about your own lack of love for your enemies. I feel your influence in media would do a great deal for the kingdom of Christ if you loved your enemies instead.”

While I respect this person’s right to their view, the bottom line of my answer was this:

“What is it but love to expose the lies and darkness that oppresses, enslaves or endangers …those Jesus loves and laid down his life for?”

It’s like this: Terrorists kidnap 3 Israeli soldiers, or as in the 80’s, American hostages. The Israeli and American governments do everything they can for the release of their captive countrymen. New York Police and Firemen rush into the Twin Towers to rescue the victims of 9/11. A good neighbor runs into the house on fire next door to rescue those trapped in the flames.

Love does all it can to rescue victims. Moses did in natural terms. Jesus did in spiritual terms. Love acts, and sometimes simply by telling the truth. Passivity does nothing.

The truth is… it makes me sad and angry when terrorists kill innocent people, such as on 9/11; who raise their children to hate the Jews and brainwash them into becoming suicide bombers; who lie and don’t keep their word despite countless negotiations and efforts at 'peace'; who cry for more and more land, and when Israel gives it up, they continue to attack them because their goal is to ‘wipe Israel off the map.’

Love is strong, and tough, like Dr. James Dobson writes about, and like what we use to talk about in college counseling courses. You know, the elephant in the living room that no one wants to acknowledge because of ‘family dynamics,’ ie co-dependence, fear. But tough love acknowledges the realities, confronts when needed, even when others don’t or won’t. Love does not live in denial or passivity.

The truth is…not all Muslim women suffer abuses such as these slides of “Looking Beyond the Veil” demonstrate. To lump all Muslim women in with the likes of the ‘wives of terrorists’ referred to in  Part I would be very wrong. But it would also be wrong to ignore the ‘elephant’ of abuse that does exist.

Telling the truth has the power to set victims free…and yes, even the victimizers, such as our friend, Walid Shoebat. who is trying to get the truth out every chance he can on Fox News, CNN, et al, about the nature and intent of radical Islam.

Orlando, FL - Early last week, Liberty Counsel filed suit against Osceola County, Florida, on behalf of a church called Men of Destiny Ministries ("Church") to protect the ministry from being shut down by the county and to stop the fines being levied each day the ministry continues to operate.

The Church's primary ministry provides healing and regeneration to men who have chemical additions to drugs and alcohol. The goal of the Church's "Regeneration Program" is to disciple men by introducing them to Jesus Christ and to help them gain freedom from addiction and become productive members of society.

The ministry in question involves fourteen men who live in a 6,300 sq. ft. home. The men work during the day and have Christian meetings in the evening, Monday through Thursday. During these evening meetings, Pastor George Shafter leads the men in prayer, teaches them about Jesus Christ, and instructs them on overcoming drug dependency. The meetings also serve to support the men and provide accountability.

On April 10, 2006, the Board of County Commissioners voted to shut down the ministry. The men can continue to live in the home, but the Christian-based drug regeneration program and teaching must stop. In other words, these men can play cards, discuss the events of the day, debate politics or watch football, but Pastor Shafter cannot lead them in prayer, nor may he encourage and support them to overcome their chemical addictions.

Mathew D. Staver, President and General Counsel of Liberty Counsel, stated, "It makes no sense to say men can live in a home and play cards, talk about the events of the day or debate politics, but cannot pray, talk about Jesus or encourage one another to remain drug-free. Osceola County has violated numerous constitutional and federally protected rights. We should encourage this church and these men who want to live productive lives in the community, rather than penalizing them with unconscionable fines."

"But for how long? !" We send our brave men and women off to fight in a foreign land , while we allow certain anti Christian government officials to little by little chip away and remove the vary "GOD given" freedoms that we sent them off to defend!

We allowed the BIBLE to be removed from our public schools while we allowed the" theory" of evolution to be forcibly taught to our Children we look at incidents like Columbine and we hear a woman who’s lost a child in a school shooting say GOD how could you let this happen ? YOUR ANSWER : YOU SAID GOD WASN’T ALLOWED IN SCHOOLS ! It’s now more easily done to sneak guns and explosives into a public school , than it is to read a Bible there , and the A.C.L.U. won’t file a law suit for bringing a gun or bomb to school , but they sure will if you bring a Bible.

The American justice system , in the court room you are asked to swear to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth , "SO HELP ME GOD !"on the BIBLE , while The Ten Commandments have just been ordered out of the public court ."The same principles that you were just asked to swear to tell the truth by !" With the removal of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS on which the American justice was based , and our great country was founded ,YOU have just allowed the hope of all justice to be removed from the American court room !

When I was in school , we were taught to be loyal to our country .We stood shoulder to shoulder as young Americans, and recited the Pledge of Allegiance , the way it was originally designed , ONE NATION UNDER GOD , for those of you who don’t remember . " GOD & A FREE COUNTRY" That’s what our brave men & women of the armed services are fighting and dieing for !

I would imagine that even before the ink on the Declaration of Independence had dried, the sentences: "Are we gonna have a flag? We gotta have a flag! Britain has a flag!" were echoed by members of the Continental Congress. But then, a flag is important. It is a symbol representing a group and their beliefs — a means of identification.

It has long been reported that in May of 1776, Betsy Ross sewed the first version of the flag we use today. The American flag has, of course, gone through several design transformations since then, as states were added to the nation and stars were added to the design.

Symbolism Abounding

Unique and appealing as the design is, I think our flag is also full of symbolism. To me, the red stripes indicate courage, blood and suffering. The white stripes mean truth, purity and open-mindedness. The word stripes, itself, is associated with oppressions, struggles, punishments and lessons learned. An enduring flag represents a state of surviving or coming-of-age the hard way.

Standing up against the ACLU in the name of freedom of speech is possible. There is no need to fear the ACLU. Prayer can defeat them. 

WILMINGTON, Del. — The Indian River School Board has rejected a proposal to settle a lawsuit over school-sponsored prayer that was filed by the ACLU against individual members of the Indian River School District Board of Education. In rejecting the proposed settlement, school board members have opted to abide by their current prayer policy, which allows for prayer before board meetings. The board’s decision not to settle with the ACLU was greeted with cheers and a standing ovation from members of the community.
