Arming the Students for Self-Defense in the Classroom   Comments Comments

If a criminal was to commit premeditated murder, do you think he would think twice if his victim could possibly be carrying a gun? Yes he would and that's why they have been committing their acts of violence in the "gun free zones" such as schools.

Twelve states are considering bills that would allow people with concealed-weapons permits to carry guns at public universities. The efforts were sparked by the Virginia Tech massacre last April.

Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, an Internet-based organization with 11,000 members in its Facebook group, is calling attention to the issue with a protest from April 21 to 25, a week after the one-year anniversary of the shootings at Virginia Tech on April 16.

"The only way to stop a person with a gun is another person with a gun," says University of Cincinnati sophomore Michael Flitcraft, 23, a mechanical engineering major who has a license to carry guns but is prohibited by university rules from bringing one onto the campus. (Source: USA Today)

Congressman Duncan Hunter Demands Feds Install Border Fence   Comments Comments

By Jim Kouri

Duncan Hunter, R-Calif, author of the fencing provisions of the Secure Fence Act of 2006, has introduced new legislation in the House of Representatives to require the construction of double-layered fencing along the U.S. border with Mexico within six months, according to a memo sent to the National Association of Chiefs of Police.

As previously reported, the language of an amendment submitted by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, into the Fiscal Year 2008 Department of Homeland Security funding bill, H.R. 2638, specifically exempts DHS from having to build any fence at all.

The Hutchison amendment reads, in part, " … nothing in this paragraph shall require the Secretary of Homeland Security to install fencing, physical barriers, roads, lighting, cameras, and sensors in a particular location along an international border of the United States, if the Secretary determines that the use or placement of such resources is not the most appropriate means to achieve and maintain operational control over the international border at such location."

"While these lawmakers living in their Ivory Towers in Washington continue to play political games with one another and collude with the Mexican government in repeated incidents of violation of US sovereignty by armed Mexicans, the American people are being victimized by illegal aliens some of whom are using fully-automatic assault rifles and other state-of-the-art weaponry, "claims Lieutenant Steven Rogers, a police commander in New Jersey.

Lt. Rogers heads the board of directors of a police-counterterrorism organization called AmeriCop.com. (http://www.AmeriCop.com)

According to a recent report by the Government Accountability Office — an entity that reports to the legislative branch of government rather than the executive and judicial branhes.– the increase in the number of incursions is staggering"

17 documented, illegal border crossings into America by armed Mexican soldiers in 2006

29 documented, illegal border incursions of all kinds by Mexican forces in 2006

253 documented, illegal border crossings by Mexican soldiers and policemen to assist drug and weapons traffickers in the past decade

1000 attacks against US Border Patrol agents in 2007

Voluntarily Giving up Rights — Boston’s Outrage Against the Constitution   Comments Comments

By Warner Todd Huston

The recent outrage against Constitutional liberty by the Boston Police raises some very interesting questions. Can we voluntarily give up our Constitutional rights? Further, can government legally violate our rights even if we ask them to do so? These are questions that we all need to consider before allowing police into our homes, invited or no.

Last week The Boston Globe reported that the Boston police are about to launch a program in "high-crime neighborhoods" where a roving band of policemen will walk door-to-door and ask parents if they have permission to search the home for guns. These police squads intend to conduct searches without warrants, claiming that the invitation by the homeowner is all they need to commence the search.

Like all steps down the road to tyranny, the pavement here is being laid by folks with good intentions, officials who are, after all, only trying to "help" the community. The Commissar of Police, Edward Davis claims that he is giving the folks of Boston "an option" for what to do about gun violence in the city. The cops "ask permission" to enter and supposedly only do so when given the OK. They also target specific homes that have been fingered as troublesome by neighbors and other intelligence sources.

Some community leaders are professing their faith in this new program that is patterned after one instituted, but later abandoned, by the St. Louis police. Boston’s community leaders seem ready to give this a try because the program is supposed to be spurred by community interaction and tips to the Boston PD. It is interesting and instructive, however, to note that some reports about the demise of the St. Louis program claim that one of the reasons they shut it down there was because the St.

Louis PD began to rely more on their own intelligence and less on community tips. Meaning, the community was no longer involved and the police there began to act as if it was solely their own resources

Down by the School Yard   Comments Comments

by Nancy Salvato

I’ve been following the news story on the execution style killings of three college bound students in Newark, NJ. It is just so horrific that I wanted to find some justification, no matter how slight, for such an atrocity to befall this particular group of victims; young adults whose gruesome fate was decided because they chose to hang out in the wrong place at the wrong time. I was particularly disappointed when Bill O’Reilly’s guest, Jesse Peterson, a professor of hip hop culture, had absolutely no concrete suggestions on how to prevent kids from turning into thugs –except to suggest paying teachers more money so that the schools can better address troubled youth.

If O’Reilly’s producers want to continue with this thread of discussion, a solid case could be made that offering parental school choice would go a long way toward solving many of the problems that plague our young people. By offering parents without economic mobility the means to provide their children a place to explore without fear, or being forced to grow up too fast, where administrators can enforce standards of behavior and create a culture of learning, these kids might stand a chance. As it stands now, in many lower Socio Economic Status (SES) areas, public schools have become dumping grounds and even the kids who are excited about learning, are left behind. In this atmosphere, students will not come close to receiving the level of intellectual stimulation from their teachers or peers to which higher SES students are exposed. Why has this been allowed to happen?

One third of an individual’s salary goes to pay taxes. This is money that is supposed to be spent in ways to maintain or expand this country’s infrastructure, compensate those who make and enforce our rule of law, and provide a means for the defense of the populace. Obviously, these monies are not always spent in ways that benefit the general public. For example, it is hard to justify that building a bridge to an island with a population of 50 persons benefits our society in some way. However, there is a legitimate argument to set aside public money to make sure every child is provided equal access to a quality education. Clearly, though, this is not what is happening.

Illegal Aliens Take to the Streets Again   Comments Comments

by Jim Kouri, CPP

While hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens take to the streets of major US cities to protest their treatment by the US government, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested 148 illegal aliens, criminals and immigration fugitives during a four-day enforcement operation in Dallas.

Called Operation Cross Check, this localized, targeted enforcement initiative is part of an ongoing nationwide initiative focused on arresting criminal aliens. During this operation, ICE officers arrested 148 illegal aliens, including 41 with criminal convictions. Among those arrested were 124 men and 17 women; seven juveniles were also apprehended and returned to their countries of origin. Of the 148 aliens arrested, 84 have already been returned to Mexico.

"ICE will continue to fulfill our Congressional mandate to apprehend and deport those who entered our country illegally, especially those who have committed criminal acts," said Nuria Prendes, field office director for the ICE Office of Detention and Removal Operations in Dallas.

"Our job is to help protect the public from those who commit crimes, and to protect the integrity of the nation’s legal immigration system."

Those arrested included aliens from the following countries: Argentina (1), China (1), Colombia (3), El Salvador (10), Guatemala (4), Honduras (5), Mexico (118), Nepal (3), Venezuela (1), Vietnam (1) and Zambia (1).

The May Day protests scheduled throughout the country today are significantly smaller than previous anti-sovereignty demonstrations, but the sentiment of their organizers still serve to undermine the laws of the United States by championing illegal alien amnesty and open borders legislation in the U.S. Congress, according to activists such as the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps.

After-Action Review of Rampage Killings   Comments Comments

by Michael Nevin, Jr.

I won’t soon forget the chaos that ensued on June 28, 2003 shortly after beginning my shift and hitting the streets. And I don’t suppose any other first responder that day will forget it either. A 53-year-old man with a history of mental illness went on a shooting rampage in the lobby of the Dalt Hotel at 34 Turk Street before retreating to his room. The killer was described in the San Francisco Chronicle as "a ticking time bomb" who on that day was responsible for killing three and critically wounding another. I can recall stepping over bodies lying in the lobby as we searched for the gunman. He was later found deceased in his fourth-floor room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but not until his carnage had left its imprint on a neighborhood unaccustomed to being shocked by violence.

The Virginia Tech massacre will leave an indelible mark on American history. The deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history claimed the lives of 32 innocent souls with scores more injured. The 23-year-old mass murderer was a disturbed loner who stalked women and authoring violent plays. He was declared mentally ill in 2005 and ordered to seek treatment. Unfortunately, after a short stay in the hospital the psychopath returned to society and was back on campus where he would eventually plan and prepare for his day of infamy.

Terrorists Training in South America Threaten US National Security   Comments Comments

by Jim Kouri, CPP

As Americans remember the horror of the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington more than five years ago, the US borders are practically as porous as ever. Yet Americans get few answers during the heated debate. What many hear are abstractions about tightening border security with no mention of how that is to be achieved.

According to testimony given to the US House of Representatives Armed Services Committee by General Peter Pace, then Vice Chairman, now Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Hamas has joined Hezbollah and Al Qaeda in the Triple Frontier Zone in Latin America where the borders of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay converge.

There the Islamic terror groups train recruits, gather intelligence on targets, launder money and sell drugs. There is evidence that these terrorists and narco-terrorists will soon migrate north into the United States. He cited terrorism reports indicating terrorist groups are active in Canada and Central-South America.

Michigan’s Hezbollah Connection   Comments Comments

by Jim Kouri, CPP

Rep. John Dingell, a Michigan Democrat, proclaimed himself neutral — "I don't take sides for or against Hezbollah; I don't take sides for or against Israel," he said — there appears to be problems of Hezbollah activities within his and fellow traveler Rep. John Conyer's own backyard.

A Dearborn Heights MI, man pleaded guilty on recently to charges of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) and using illegally obtained funds to help finance the terrorist group Hezbollah.

Youssef Aoun Bakri, 36, pleaded guilty in federal court as he stood before US District Judge Gerald E. Rosen. The original indictment charged Bakri and other defendants with operating a criminal enterprise to traffic in contraband cigarettes and counterfeit goods, producing counterfeit cigarette tax stamps, and laundering money.

Most troubling was the fact that part of the profits made from the illegal enterprise were given to Hezbollah, a designated foreign terrorist organization (DFTO), according to the indictment.

Police Organizations Slam NY College for Honoring Cop-Killer, Terrorist   Comments Comments

by Jim Kouri, CPP

Several police organizations are up in arms over a taxpayer funded college honoring a cop-killer and domestic terrorist.

"The cowardly school administration at the City College of New York have allowed a student community room to be named in honor of a domestic terrorist and cop-killer," said officials from the National Association of Chiefs of Police in a statement.

"You can bet your life they'd never allow the center to be called The Jesus Christ Community Center."

The New York City college students who share the community room named for the escaped cop killer Assata Shakur proclaimed their love for the fugitive murderer.

Members of seven campus groups also commended the school administration for allowing them to work in the name of a domestic "terrorist" now believed to be hiding in Cuba.

"And we consider her a hero and role model for standing up for our people and putting her life on the line."

The Pelosi and Conyers Team: Helping Terrorists and Illegal Aliens   Comments Comments

by Jim Kouri, CPP

It didn't take long before the new Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and the new chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Rep. John Conyers started making noises on how they can further undermine efforts to protect Americans from terrorist attacks.

Speaker-elect Pelosi (D-CA) is co-sponsoring the "End Racial Profiling Act", according to syndicated columnist Sher Zieve. The proposed bill is said to have been prompted by the recent removal of six Muslim imams, who are reported to have acted in a decidedly provocative manner, from a US Airways’ flight. The problem with using this act to curb so-called profiling is that the persons who demanded the removal of the suspicious Muslims do not work for the US government.

Pelosi and Conyers are calling for the end of all racial profiling, additional severe limits placed on the Patriot Act and the implementation of broad-based US citizenship for illegal aliens.

Pelosi said, "Since September 11th, many Muslim Americans have been subjected to searches at airports and other locations based upon their religion and national origin, without any credible information linking individuals to criminal conduct. Racial and religious profiling is fundamentally un-American and we must make it illegal."
