Will the US Fall as the Roman Empire Did?

As many as 12 million illegal immigrants have flooded into our nation. More cross the border
every day. The Bush administration chooses to refer to these interlopers as “guest workers.” But, as law enforcement authorities in our southwestern states will confirm, their jails are bursting with guest workers” who have committed serious crimes. What to do about this continuing flood of immigrants? History can teach our nation a very important lesson.
Toward the end of the 4th century A.D., Roman Emperor Valens opened the empire’s far-flung borders to the Goths. He did so because he wanted military recruits and laborers. In time, hordes of Goths became militant and went to war against the empire. In a famous battle, they defeated the Roman army, killed Valens, and conquered Rome itself. The Roman Empire ceased to be. Will this bit of history be repeated?
Militant leaders of the illegal invasion into our nation have called their effort “la reconquista,” and they openly state their intention to re-conquer more than five southwestern states for Mexico. The lesson left to mankind by Valens is clear. Our borders should be closed. Laws against hiring illegal immigrants should be enforced. Illegal entrants should be sent back across the border. And those who favor amnesty for these millions should be reminded of two pertinent truths: 1.) crime unpunished is crime rewarded, and 2.) crime ignored invites disdain for all laws.
