Ms Magazine Fears Pro-Lifers
0 Comments
Today, Ms magazine is asking for women who have gone through an abortion to sign their petition and to declare they had an abortion. Why, one asks?
They fear what happened in North Dakota may reverse the infamous Roe vs Wade. The South Dakota ban has been stayed because an initiative to remove this ban has been placed on the state’s November ballot. Whatever happens in South Dakota, 17 states now have trigger laws or pre-Roe bans that will ban abortion if the Supreme Court were to reverse Roe v. Wade.
And the pro-abortionist are worried!
But what if those women who had abortions and have since regretted it responded with a thumbs down against Ms magazine?
In its 1972 debut issue, Ms. magazine ran a bold petition in which 53 well-known U.S. women declared that they had undergone abortions—despite state laws rendering the procedure illegal. These women were following the example of a 1971 manifesto signed by 343 prominent French women, who also declared they had abortions. ( Ms. magazine)
And today:
The Ms. Magazine campaign, Brown said is fueled by fears of the growing "pro-life" movement.
"The biggest reason why they are doing this is because they are petrified," said Brown. "The pro life movement has made tremendous advances in Congress, in the state legislatures and it continues to move forward. And I think that some of this is to frighten the complacent woman who has had an abortion into thinking that if they don't do something they will lose their 'right to abortion.'" ( Ms. magazine)
I wonder how many of those original signers would step forward and sign that new petition today? Especially since an abortion is a violent act against a life. I bet many women would not like to admit they had an abortion and are proud of it.
