NRLC Responds to Two More Deaths of RU-486 Patients

WASHINGTON, March 17 /Christian Wire Service/ — Today, the FDA reported the deaths of two more women after taking the dangerous abortion drug, Mifeprex, or more commonly known as RU-486.
NRLC Director of Education and Research Randall K. O’Bannon, Ph.D. responded, “How many women will have to die after taking this drug? There is no doubt that RU-486 is extremely dangerous to women and it kills babies.”
Every RU-486 abortion involves bleeding, pain, and cramping, often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The expectation of such side effects often causes women and doctors to overlook important signs of infection or serious conditions like ectopic pregnancy.
“One death is too many. But after at least seven American deaths and at least 12 reported deaths worldwide, it is clear that this drug should not be given to women,” said O’Bannon.
There is also strong evidence that the total number of so-called “safe” usages is greatly inflated.
Mifeprex is distributed by Danco, which bases usage estimates on doses that are sold, not on those that are used, and then multiplies many of those orders by three because many clinics use only one pill rather than the standard three pill dose. Reporting is voluntary, and women going to the emergency room may never tell the doctor they’ve taken the abortion pill, so many deaths and injuries may never be reported.

Four of the seven US women to die got their abortion drugs at Planned Parenthood, and two at National Abortion Federation facilities. Only Brenda Vise, the woman with an undiagnosed ectopic pregnancy, got hers at a fly-by-night abortion mill.
If this is the care women get at the “best” facilities, what is happening to the women at the seedy places?
Christina, your comment is a very good point.
Unfortunately the bottom line is those who want pro-choice and their erroneous ways. Eventually those pushing pro-choice may see their error, but it may be too late for many victims of RU-486.
