Freedom Of Speech Attacked By Muslims Over The Danish Cartoons
0 Comments
What ever happened to freedom of speech and the press? Ever since the Muslim cartoons appeared in the Danish publications the Muslim world has responded with violent and deadly protest. These protests just began a few weeks ago yet the cartoons in question were published almost five months ago.
Now many publications are being silenced and not allowed to publish or discuss the cartoons.
The New York Times editorial staff walked out this week because they were not permitted to run the cartoons.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reprinted one of the cartoons on Saturday, but the editors of other newspapers, including the Washington Post, USA Today and the Los Angeles Times, have decided not to do so, citing cultural sensitivities, "standards," and good taste. (From: CNS News)
Other groups such as Christians and Jews have had to endure cartoon caricatures without any violent protests. After 9/11 Americans did not go around rioting and burning embassies.
It appears that most of the press is afraid of retributions against them if they publish the cartoons.
If anything comes out of this cartoon jihad, is that Islam is not the "religion of peace" that many are led to believe since 9/11. It appears that it is more of a "religion of violence" and the peaceful Muslims are a small minority.
We can only pray that the deadly Muslim violence that is spreading through out Europe and Middle East will not erupt here in the United States.
