Unanimous U.S. Supreme Court Strikes   Comments Comments

Liberty Legal Institute Press Release

Plano – The U.S. Supreme Court just released a unanimous decision in the Ayotte v. Planned Parenthood case, upholding a parental notification law in New Hampshire. This ruling will now require all doctors and hospitals to notify parents before a child, under the age of 18, has an abortion.

“This is a great victory for judicial restraint,” said Chief Counsel for Liberty Legal Institute Kelly Shackelford. “The U.S. Supreme Court did the right thing by exercising restraint and giving parents the right they deserve.”

This case is one of the first to be heard with Chief Justice Roberts overseeing the Supreme Court.

“Justice Roberts is truly making an impact. This signals an important shift in the U.S. Supreme Court to turn from its practices of judicial activism,” Shackelford said. “The Court’s decision showed that they will now exercise restraint and refuse to strike down an entire statute based on broad, hypothetical situations introduced by opposing counsel. This skepticism is widely applauded.”

Liberty Legal Institute filed a brief in the case, asking the U.S. Supreme Court to uphold the New Hampshire law. The brief was written on behalf a father whose mentally challenged daughter was the victim of repeated abuse and coerced abortions. Liberty Legal Institute’s brief gained national attention, as it provided a compelling argument to uphold parental notification.

“This ruling protects children from some of the devastating effects of abortions and moves the nation closer to providing limitations on such a dangerous, controversial procedure,” said Director of Litigation for Liberty Legal Institute Hiram Sasser.

Teacher-Student Sexual Encounters Growing   Comments Comments

Our teachers in the public and private school systems are be held in the highest moral and cultural standards. There is no doubt that they can influence their students behavior and thoughts through their charismatic position as teacher.

The infamous Kinsey research's unchallenged conclusions are taught at every level of education – from elementary school to college – and quoted in textbooks as undisputed truth. He published that sex is okay and that it is not bad to experiment with one's sexual emotions and urges but should be expressed to the fullest and without remorse.

But lately a growing trend has developed where the teacher has taken advantage of their position and has been caught in illegal sexual acts with their students. This social deviation is not restricted to any sex, culture, country, or one's faith. And there is evidence that this has been ongoing for many generations but is just recently coming to light.

Just recently a male teacher was charged with sex abuse in Maynard, New Hampshire.

A Maynard High School teacher charged last week with raping a student has been abusing children over the past four decades, a prosecutor alleged in court.

Middlesex Assistant District Attorney Michael Chinman said Friday that five new alleged victims, including a Maynard police officer, have come forward with accusations against Joseph Magno, 65, a popular teacher who was arrested Jan. 6.

"Accounts have come in every day from past victims," Chinman said. "This abuse goes back (to) every decade the defendant has been teaching, going back to the 1960s." (Source: WHDH TV)

In Saint Louis, Missouri, a female special-ed teacher was arrested for having oral sex with several students over the past few months. She wasn't to brilliant because she bragged about her escapades to friends.

A Special School District teacher was charged Friday with statutory sodomy involving at least three of her students at Ferguson Middle School during the past few months.

Authorities said the case unfolded after Cathy Heminghaus, 46, of Ferguson, told friends that she had performed oral sex on the students on several occasions since October. Statutory sodomy is a felony; Heminghaus is charged with 19 counts. (Source: Saint Louis Post-Dispatch)

These examples are just the tip of the iceberg of this growing problem. It's no wonder that the likes of former President Clinton was able to get away with his sexual activity while in office with very little public outcry.
